We began by talking about the differences between Agent and Systems models. After that, we opened the Fire model from the NetLogo library. We first ran the model and the students made observations about how the program worked. Then we made some modifications. We first got the fire to start in random locations, then we added a feature so the fire could be started with a click of the mouse. Next, we worked with the Rabbits Grass Weeds model and tested its functionality a few changes by commenting parts of the code or making simple changes.

After lunch, we worked together on a model of disease spread. This model was meant to illustrate different features of NetLogo, such as variables, sliders, procedures, and if statements. Next, the students built models using a guided tutorial and added their own customizations to the final models.
