The first day of class, Bethany opened with the Monty Hall problem. Students played the game with each other on paper. One student was "Monty" and the other was the contestant. They used index cards as doors and recorded how many times they won and how many time they lost when they switched and when they stayed. Afterwards, the class combined their data and discussed which choice they thought was better (switching or staying). Then, students experimented with the Monty Hall applets on Interactivate. Bethany explained the math behind the problem.

Next, students experimented with another Interactivate activity about probability. It is called Racing Game.

At the end of class, students experimented and made observations, which they shared with the class, about the Fire! activity on Interactivate.
