The following reports were written by members of Forensic Science during the first day of the program. Some elements may have been removed/edited for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.

Today's class of forensic science was ok, we has a lady come in named Emily she show us the field for work the she majors in. We got to try to forge a signature and figure out what are the defects of the forged signature. We got to look at the water mark that most all of the companies have to give secret proof that the product is theirs. Under the uv light we got to see how Emily finds scrached out words. I think that this class will be a good expreience for me.

The first day and the class is looking to be informative. The QDE (Questioned Document Examiner) had a very interesting and interactive presentation. It is neat to see the applications of QDE in the field of forensics.
The class can be wild at loud at some times, but when it comes to working, almost everyone gets right to it and does thier assigned work.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the week.

Matt

I learned a lot about ultraviolet light. I liked all of it except the Stella program. There is only 1 possible improvement which is probably impossible: laptops for each individual person.

Matthew

Today we learned how to be a questioned document examiner. I learned that my handwriting is terrible. I think that my mind has changed about being a doctor into a Forensic scientist. The only thing I did not like was when we always had to listened to the interns. I think that when Renee taught Stella, it was fun.

Erin

Today I learned how to tell if something is forged. That I really enjoyed. We also did some decoding of codes. And we did some some stuff in Stella. My favorite thing was the forging project. That was my favorite because it was very fun.

This camp is interesting. I liked the decoding activites and learning about the document analysis. The lunch doesn't need to be that long though as there is nothing to do. Overall I liked it.

Alan

This camp is cool cause you learn how to forge signitures. We do some things too long sometimes and it gets boring.

Bruce

I learned that we could use different tools to see what is under scribbles or hidden writing. I liked that we could have a guest speaker that taught us about handwriting secrets on paper. No improvements needed.

Ethan

I like these laptops. I like how there are no cables to get on the internet. It got kind of boring, though, because we stayed on some subjects too long and it got tiresome.

Ryan

It was an ok day.

Alex

I had a great time today. I learned what forensic science was, and how it is used. We cracked codes, solved puzzles, and even wrote our own codes (I didn't, though). Then, we made models on the Stella. It was a good day.

Matthew

I found this lesson interesting and helpful. My only wish is that all of the instructors would be fully helpful in correcting my mistakes.
