Today started with Dave taking the class and teaching them how to use a telescope properly. He asked the class how they could find the sun in the telescope without looking through it and damaging their eyes. The answer was puting a piece of paper a few inches away from the lens. This projects the the sun onto the paper. The students were able to find the sun and examine its spots. All this was done done with even looking through the telescope. After this the class went back inside and talked about different kinds of light such as ultra violet and x-rays. Then the class went on the internet to search for clusters made up of blue stars. In the Sky View, which is a professional astronomical program, the students were given the assignment to look for what the name of the main stars in the constellation Orion was. Dave informed the class the program will run slow because scientist are also trying to use the program the same time they are.

After lunch, the class studied star temperture by looking at the color of the stars. Next the students were taught intersteller distiction. Then before doing reports each of the students downloaded a picture of a galaxy and edited them to how they wanted it to be.
