Koch's Snowflake

Objective: Once again, students step through the iterations to create a fractal known as Koch's Snowflake. The terms infinity and bound should be included in the discussion on this fractal. You can also have students draw the first few iterations of this fractal to demonstrate the usefulness of computers when dealing with fractals.

Materials: Each student will need

Explorations questions for students:

  1. How many line segments are in the fractal after one iteration? Two iterations? etc.

  2. Can you find a function for the number of segments after any number of iterations?
