The Internet has become a larger and important resource when working with research, particularly in the sciences. As a resource, the Internet provides breadth in information and content, but also more unrelated and irrelevant information exists out there. It is important that students know how to navigate this web of data and what to ignore when necessary.

Internet Science Explorations (ISE) is a 15-hour workshop designed to introduce middle school students to the investigation of a wide variety of sciences through the application of experiments and scientific research and data. As part of the scientific process, students will also learn to communicate their observations and findings to each other as well as to a professional audience.

The workshop involves structured hands-on labs and activities, experience preparing research documentation and, the opportunity to work collaboratively with other students on small projects. Careful observations and reporting of those observations will be emphasized at all times.
