The Science Olympiad Student Enrichment Program (SOSEP) is a year-round program reaching approximately 1,800 middle school and high school students. The program is a three-year collaboration among the North Carolina Science Olympiad (NCSO), various universities and community colleges, and numerous school systems around North Carolina. The goal of SOSEP is to ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to participate in the NCSO regardless of their ethnicity, household income, or geographic location. New Team Institutes will be developed and students participating in school-level NCSO after school programs will participate in intramural, district, regional, state, and national tournaments. SOSEP plans to build within 120 high-need schools a well-developed Science Olympiad program with a motivated and competent NCSO coach. Students will learn new science concepts and skills in an environment that is fun and challenging.
