The Summer Institute is really cool. During this fun filled camp you, a choosen icon of your school will explore science, math, and computer technology when visiting rope courses, Emerald Point, and the beach. When you're not chilling at these cool locations, you will be in the classroom doing a variety of awesome hands on labs and activities with your buddies. Some of the cool labs are: making a circuit board with your bare hands, making a digital counter, and making mutant bacteria. My favorite activity was, creating a personal web page that I was able to post on the internet. This incredble and exciting camp prepares you for your upcoming class next year and sets you up on a excellant path for your future as a scholar.

The Fun Filled Field Trips

Once a week on every Friday the Summer Institute will take a field trip to an exciting location where they will incorperate fun and learning. Some examples of these locations are, the Traingle Training Center, the Eno River, Falls Lake, the beach, Reed Gold Mine, Emerald Point, Kings Dominion, and much, much more.

The fun filled field trips consist of spending an entire day at the Triangle Training Center, where you will build teamwork, problem solving, trust, and leadership ablities while scaling a magnanimous outdoor climbing wall, cool mazes, intricate webs, humagous ziplines, and the amazing high wire. Another fun filled field trip was the day at Emerald Point. This fun day of going down the water slides was not just a day of fun, it served as an educational purpose. We calculated are time going down the slides and the length to find our velocity. My personal favorite was the trip to the beach. This was a two-day excursion to Atlantic Beach were we spent a day on an uninhabatited Shackleford Island where we compared and contrasted the evolotion of life in the ocean and on land, oberseved the ecosystem, and the islands geology. Some of our other field trips were visiting a gold mine, Falls lake, and the Eno River.

The Exciting Classes

Some of the exciting class offered at the Summer Institute were Physics, Chemistry, Web page design, and Electronics. Here in the classroom segments of the day the campers would do hands on labs and experiments; such as building advanced circuits, mutating bacteria, advanced mathmatics, building rockets, desinging personal web pages, and computer graphics. The best part of this is that most to all students go into these fields with litle or no experence or knowlegde. The exquistely hand picked teachers make the learning fun and educational.

My personal favorite class was electronics. This class is exciting and fun. My partner and I composed circuits from nothing. This class helps you, especially when you take physics. You are taught the general knowlege of gates, circuitry, and digital technology. In physics class we bulit a multitude of rockets using numerous materials. We built rockets from alka-seltzer to C4. In chemistry we mutate bacteria. We took the E. Coli bacteria. This bacteria is not resistant to ampiclian and would not glow under a black light. However, we made the bacteria resistant to ampiclian and able to glow under a black light. In Web Page Design we composed our own, personal web pages. We wrote them using HTML format. Now we have a general knowledge of creating web pages, making graphics, installing pictures, links, and sounds on our sites. This class was really exciting because we composed a web page from nothing, no knowledge prior to the class.
