Detailed Information / Program Application / Recommendation Form

The Summer Institute is a tuition-free program offering five weeks of academic enrichment in the sciences, mathematics, and computers to ninth, tenth and eleventh grade students from the three area public school systems. The Summer Institute seeks to enroll students of average to above average ability, but not those of exceptional ability who are well served by other opportunities in the state. Special consideration is given to women and minority applicants. The Summer Institute provides students with the opportunity to participate for three consecutive summers. The Program is inter-disciplinary and experiential in nature. It emphasizes hands-on work, field trips to statewide science facilities, and lectures from local professionals. Third year students participate in a mentorship program with a local expert in a science, mathematics, or technology field of interest.
