The project offers a six-week residential and seven-month Saturday program including classroom laboratory, research, mentoring, shadowing, and parent involvement. The goals are to motivate and prepare middle and high school youth to pursue careers in MSET (Mathematics, Science, Engineering and Technology); provide a broad range of instructional, extracurricular, experiential, and recreational activities to motivate students to explore, pursue, and successfully complete careers in MSET fields; heighten students’ awareness of the importance of MSET in our daily lives; strengthen students’ research and critical thinking skills; increase the pool of students who possess the skills necessary for competencies for successful completion of scientific careers; and build self confidence and remove negative attitudes toward mathematics and science careers.
