WEEK A -- THURSDAY

In the morning, Steve Stevenson gave a lecture on simulation and discrete event modeling. After that, Bob Panoff ran interactive simulations to demonstrate the differences in output for a specific numerical algorithm. This simulation dealt with the burning of forests and how inconsistent the output can be with the numerical algorithm. The class repeated simulations and obtained an average which was logistic in appearance.

Here Bob is explaining how the algorithm works.

Here Dr. Susan Ganter is running the forest fire simulation.
