Project Title | OnRamp Computational Science Module |
Summary | OnRamp is a web portal for teaching parallel and distributed computing on a variety of parallel compute environments. A modular curriculum modules system allows curriculum module creators to package applications for portability across different platforms and to be able to expose parameters that students can use to explore parallel and distributed concepts. |
Job Description | This project is to develop a non-trivial computational science module that can be used to demonstrate parallel programming techniques in the development of Phase 2 of OnRamp. In order to do this, a real computational science application will be developed, such as computational fluid dynamics, molecular dynamics, or some other widely used computational solvers. Educational materials and performance studies of the code on various platforms will be developed as part of the project. A secondary goal of this work is to develop the module such that it can be used to explore applying computing to science problems in an outreach program. This module will also be contributed to the Blue Waters Curriculum module collection. |
