Curl Calculator

Purpose:The curl calculator allows for visualization of the curl of a vector field.

Restrictions on Use: This plug-in does not load properly for Macintosh users with Internet Explorer. Macintosh users should view this plug-in with Netscape.

General Information:

  1. Enter in the x and y components of your vector field as functions of x and y.
  2. The top graph shows the magnitude of the curl as a surface plot. A positive magnitude indicates a curl pointed out of the sreen, and a negative magnitude indicates a curl pointed into the screen.
  3. The bottom graph shows the vector field that you are taking the curl of.
