Introduction
This web site was designed to serve as a learning tool for students studying biological engineering . As such, it
should be emphasized that all material contained in this site is intended as a teaching tool only. The site should not
be used as a source for medical information or advice. The primary audience for this site is undergraduate level
students. As well as students, the information may be of interest to people with kidney disease and their
caregivers. Based on conducted research, a computational model was developed to depict dialysis. The model can
be used to show how the equations for dialysis, namely urea clearance, function in response to variable changes.
After exploring this site, the users should be able to understand the biological basis of the kidneys and dialysis and
the underlying scientific and mathematical concepts.
