Interactivate is always changing to meet the needs of its users. Whether it is adding more activities or putting in more features for better navigaton in the site, we're always striving to make the site more useful, educational, and user friendly.

What Type Description When
Recursion New This activity graphs recursive functions of the form f(0)=C and defining f(n) based on f(n-1). August 2005
All Activities Change Interactivate's Java activities now use .jar files so the user only loads a single file as opposed two or more class files for each activity. This change was necessitated because of Sun's newest versio of Java (1.5) which caused the applets not to load due to a caching problem with the class files. Note however that a JavaScript embedded in each activity's index page detects the user's browser and will load the class files for our Mac OS9 users. Mac OS9 does not support the use of .jar files. August 2005
General Coordinates Game, Simple Coordinates Game Change A more "behind the scenes" change to consolidate the code of these activities so they all share the same code base giving them a familiar look and feel. August 2005
Maze Game, Simple Maze Game Change A more "behind the scenes" change to consolidate the code of these activities so they all share the same code base giving them a familiar look and feel. August 2005

Also, the activity now uses the ShodorGraphPaper class to have a similar look and feel to the other activities on a coordinate plane. August 2005
Pattern Generator Change Added an option to allow the user to choose "easy" "medium" or "hard" patterns. August 2005
Arithmetic Quiz, Algebra Quiz, Estimator Quiz, Fraction Quiz New Similar to the Four games (Arithmetic Four, Algebra Four, Estimator Four, Fraction Four) the Quizzes quiz the user on specific types of computations: computing number sentences, solving algebraic equations, estimating number sentences, computing number sentences with fractions, decimals, percents. These activities do not have the "Connect Four" game interface, however. August 2005
Conic Flyer Change Added the general equations that correspond to the numeric equations so the user can readily see which parameter is being manipulated. August 2005
Arithmetic Four, Algebra Four, Estimator Four, Fraction Four Change A more "behind the scenes" change to consolidate the code of these activities so they all share the same code base giving them a familiar look and feel. Also removed the default check boxes on the opening screen to make the interface more intuitive. August 2005
Graphit, Sketcher, Simple Plot, Scatter Plot Change A more "behind the scenes" change to consolidate the code of these activities so they all share the same code base giving them a familiar look and feel. August 2005
Multi Bar Graph New A new activity, similar to Bar Graph but uses two bars per category instead of one. August 2005
Scatter Plot New Scatter Plot is similar to the Simple Plot activity but allows the user to name the axes making it more appropriate to graph named data rather than just X-Y pairs. August 2005
North Carolina Standard Course of Study Alignment New Interactivate lessons are now aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for grades 6, 7, and 8. August 2005
Flash Stopwatch, Flash Sierpinski's Triangle, Flash Fire!!, Flash Coloring Remainders in Pascal's Triangle, Venn Diagrams New Several activities have been converted to Macromedia's Flash in addition to their Java versions. This provides users another option for using our activities if Java is problematic on their computers. August 2005
Function Flyer, Data Flyer Change New functionality has been added to these graphing applets that allow the user to pan and zoom around the coordinate plane. For applets that graph functions, a "Show Tabular Data" button has been added to view the function in table format. Also, under the Slider Limits window, the color of the slider appears next to the input boxes that control that slider. August 2005
Graphics Change Graphics have changed again to incorporate a better color scheme. August 2005
Home Page, Teacher Page, Student Page, Footer Image, What? How? Why? Buttons Change Graphics for these pages have been redesigned to incorporate a new look and feel for Project Interactivate. July 2004
Graphing Activities Change All graphing activities which use an x-y coordinate plane now have a common "Graph Paper" for familiarity and a common look and feel. July 2004
Graph Sketcher and Graphit Change These activities now accept the notation ln(x) for the natural log function. July 2004
Venn Diagrams Shape Sorter Change Removed the "Set Rule" button on the "Make the Rule" setting in order to get rid of the confusing error messages that occurred if the user selected two sets that didn't work for the type of Venn Diagram selected. The applet now automatically propagates the 2nd "Choose the Rule" drop down menu with only appropriate choices based on what the user chose for the 1st "Choose the Rule" drop down menu. Also changed font sizes to make more user friendly for younger users. July 2004
Angles Change Added information about the diagram. The applet now gives the angle measure of one of the angles and also states which lines are parallel. July 2004
TransmoGrapher2 Change Changed the interface of this activity to allow for easier input of the coordinates used as the vertices of the polygon. July 2004
Clock Activity Change Added functionality to allow the user to set a desired start time and a window which displays the addends as you move the clock hands forward. July 2004
Coloring Multiples in Pascal's Triangle, Coloring Remainders in Pascal's Triangle Change Added "Set" buttons for the user to click after entering a divisor in addition to the previous functionality of hitting the return key on the keyboard to get the input to take. July 2004
Perimeter Explorer, Shape Explorer, Area Explorer Change Funtionality added to allow an option to draw rectangular shapes only and a display window that, when opened, will display previous correct answers allowing side by side comparison of an area with its matching perimeter. July 2004
Arithmetic Four, Estimator Four, Fraction Four Change Minor functionality change so now that when the first player gets the answer incorrect, the second player has a chance to answer that question. July 2004
Safari Compliance Change Made changes to many of the activities so they will now work on Mac OSX 10.1.x and 10.2.x running the Safari browser. We are still working on Macs running OSX 10.3.x (Panther). July 2004
Comparison Estimator Change Minor functionality change to remove the "almost the same as" answer option and the tolerance selection as these controls created some ambiguity on what answers would be counted as correct. July 2004
Fraction Sorter Change Minor functionality changes to this activity include adding a Keep Score button, a window that tells the users what fraction they did create if the fraction is incorrect, and prevention of having multiple error windows open at the same time. July 2004
