The class began with the instructor discussing (Computational Science) Education versus Computational (Science Education). The students discussed why modeling was necessary and how modeling is used from the spread of diseases to the balance of nature. Students explored the Fire applet and Wolves and Rabbits applet in Interactivate. Students discussed probability and what happens to the number of trees as you increase the probability. For the rabbits and wolves applet, the students explored what happens when the number of wolves increase and when the number of rabbits decrease and vice versa. The students then tried to find a balance for the rabbits and wolves.
