Determination of pKa's
Background
One of the most important measures of the acidity of an acide is the pKa.
Weak acids are the most common type of acids. They follow the equation:
HA(aq) <---> H+(aq) + A-(aq)
The equilibrium constant for the dissociation of an acid is known as
Ka. The larger the value of Ka, the stronger the acid.
