Graphing Functions

Activity Name	Activity Description
Graph Sketcher	Students create graphs of functions on the coordinate plane by entering formulas -- similar to a graphing calculator.
Graphit	Students graph functions and/or sets of ordered pairs on the same coordinate plane -- similar to a graphing calculator.
Sequencer	Students input parameters (starting number, multiplier, addend) to generate number patterns in arithmetic and geometric sequences. The applet plots the sequence as a connected set of points on the coordinate plane.
Vertical Line Test	Students learn about the vertical line test for functions by trying to connect points in the plane to build a function.
Possible or Not?	Drills students on whether a curve in the coordinate plane satisfies the properties of a function.
The Two Variable Function Pump	Students are introduced to the idea of prisoners/escapees by entering two complex numbers (z and c) as ordered pairs of real numbers. The ordered pairs are graphed and iterated step by step both on the coordinate plane and in a table. They can repeat the activity to discover the pattern of which ordered pairs will be prisoners, which ones will be escapees and which will be neither.
