How do I run this applet?
This Java applet requires a Java-capable browser. If you do not see the applet, Java may not be functional in your browser or on your machine.
Object of the activity
This activity allows the user to practice simplifying, converting, multiplying decimals,
percentages and fractions.
Controls and Output
- This activity is similar to Connect Four, and is designed for two players. The
goal is to have four pieces of the same color connected either horizontally, vertically, or
diagonally. One player uses red pieces, while the other player uses blue pieces. To earn a piece,
you need to answer a fraction-related question by entering it into the answer textbox:
- Note that within the input field there is a pattern(#/# or ####) which indicates
whether your answer should be a fraction or a decimal. If your answer is a fraction, it must
be in lowest terms. If it is a decimal, it must be accurate to within .001.
- After you have entered your answer, you need to click on the Answer
button to find out if you are correct.
- If a player answers their question correctly, they will be able to place one of
their pieces on the board. To place a piece, simply click on the column that you want
to drop the piece into. The piece will appear in the lowest available slot in the column.
If a player answers incorrectly, the other player will be asked to answer the question. If
they also incorrectly, the answer will be displayed in a pop-up frame and a new question will be
asked to the original player:
- If you want to restart the game, you can do so by clicking on the New Game button:
- You can also adjust the difficulty of the questions by using the drop-down box. There are
three levels of difficulty: Easy, Medium, and Hard:
